Cavs Sign Brown & Deals For Simmons
Sunday, September 30th, 2007Finally, GM Danny Ferry puts something together. It’s never too late to start! King James still need a PG. But after the acquisition of Devin Brown, that guy might have been found. Imagine the play-by-play call that Joe Tait, the Cavaliers long time radio “play-by-play” guy on WTAM-1100 will be calling this upcoming season.
“Brown to Brown. Brown gets fouled.”
Now which Brown are we referring to? The Cavaliers now have three Brown’s on their team. There’s head coach, Mike Brown and guards, Shannon & Devin Brown. And then there’s the Cleveland Browns.
Devin Brown played last season for the New Orleans Hornets averaging a career-high, 11.6 points a game. Brown is a versatile guard and is a perfect backup to platoon with Larry Hughes.
The Cavaliers also acquired Brown’s former teammate in New Orleans, Cedric Simmons who was a rookie last season and will likely platoon with Drew Gooden in the PF department. Simmons was dealt to the Cavaliers in exchange for the less used guard, David Wesley, who spent most of last season on the bench.
Now if the Cavaliers can sign both Sasha Pavlovic and Andy Varejao, they have an even better chance of getting to the East Conference Finals again. Forget about the “Big Three” in Bo-town.
The “Youth” campaign is only beginning.
