Cavs Sign Brown & Deals For Simmons

September 30th, 2007

Finally, GM Danny Ferry puts something together. It’s never too late to start! King James still need a PG. But after the acquisition of Devin Brown, that guy might have been found. Imagine the play-by-play call that Joe Tait, the Cavaliers long time radio “play-by-play” guy on WTAM-1100 will be calling this upcoming season.

“Brown to Brown. Brown gets fouled.”

Now which Brown are we referring to? The Cavaliers now have three Brown’s on their team. There’s head coach, Mike Brown and guards, Shannon & Devin Brown. And then there’s the Cleveland Browns.

Devin Brown played last season for the New Orleans Hornets averaging a career-high, 11.6 points a game. Brown is a versatile guard and is a perfect backup to platoon with Larry Hughes.

The Cavaliers also acquired Brown’s former teammate in New Orleans, Cedric Simmons who was a rookie last season and will likely platoon with Drew Gooden in the PF department. Simmons was dealt to the Cavaliers in exchange for the less used guard, David Wesley, who spent most of last season on the bench.

Now if the Cavaliers can sign both Sasha Pavlovic and Andy Varejao, they have an even better chance of getting to the East Conference Finals again. Forget about the “Big Three” in Bo-town.

The “Youth” campaign is only beginning.

Sarunas Jasikevicius - “GM Danny Ferry, What are you waiting for?”

September 20th, 2007

“Jasikevicius, with his game face ON.”

Sarunas Jasikevicius was just waived by the Warriors.

Several years ago, we tried signing him. But he betrayed us and went with the Indiana Pacers instead.

I don’t think we should hold onto any past grudges and give this guy a chance. Plus, he’s a good friend of Big Z. That alone would boost the playing morale of both players.

Since Danny Ferry haven’t done nothing yet in the off-season, I don’t see how adding a Jasikevicius would hurt us in any way–DO IT NOW!

Here’s another thought:

If the Warriors don’t want to give Baron Davis the $50 Million extension, I’m pretty the Cavaliers can. We’ll pay the extra luxury tax.

I remember Dan Gilbert saying something about making Cleveland the New York Yankees of the NBA when he was trying to buy the Cavaliers.

It’s been years now and he hasn’t put his money where his mouth is at.

Trade for Baron Davis if he is unhappy there. We can sure use him on our team right about now.

Or there’s Gilbert Arenas.

I would love to see him in a Cavaliers’ uniform. This guy is one of the most disciplined player in the league and he’s a great blogger too, if you check out his blogs on NBA.com.

Gotta love Gilbert Arenas, or AKA, “Agent Zero!”

Anyways, go Team Cavaliers!

The “Big Three” in Bo-town Means - NOTHING

September 19th, 2007

What the Cavs have that the Celtics don’t have is the “Fountain of Youth.”

With players like LeBron James, “Boobie” Gibson & Shannon Brown, who can only get better as they gain even more experience, the “Big Three” in Bo-town are more a joke than something to seriously worry about this season.

Age wise, the “Big Three” are a decade plus older than the “Fountain of Youth” here in Cleveland and NONE OF THEM have tasted the glory of being in the FINALS.

Just because you put them together on one team–guarantees nothing.

Let’s say they go the “selfish” route and put individual statistics before team chemistry, they ain’t going anywhere with that kind of attitude.

I wouldn’t bank my money on Boston taking the East, just because they have the “Big Three.”

To give up that much young talent in that of Al Jefferson, Gerald Green and Delonte West, you’re looking at a really, desperate organization, as well as GM.

Danny Ainge is only doing the best he can to cover his own darn rear, because one more disappointing season and he’s a GONER…

Charlie Bell: Come to Cleveland!

Apparently, the Bucks are annoying Bell to the point that he wants out.

Source: Yahoo! Sports

“I don’t want to go back to Milwaukee. I’m really disappointed in how this has turned out, but I don’t see any way I could play for the Bucks again because my heart just won’t be in it.”

Please come to Cleveland.

LeBron needs a PG and you Charlie, have what it takes to be Cleveland’s next PG.

Just because we got rid of the “other” Charlie, don’t mean that we don’t want Charlie to be on our team.

Charlie Frye was a cancer to the Cleveland Browns, whereas Charlie Bell would be a rejuvenation to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If I was the General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, I would be on the phone right now and contacting this guy’s agent 24/7 until he agrees to play for me. Danny Ferry, please take this one for the team.

Charlie Bell is no Jason Kidd, but still a lot better than having no PG at all.

UPDATE: It looks like he’s heading to Miami. He signed an offer sheet with the Heat for five years & $18.5 million.

There goes my hope for a new PG in Cleveland.
Why… why… WHY?

Fellow Cavaliers’ fans.

Forget about free agency. Forget about adding an all-star on our team to compliment LeBron James. With his new 20/15 vision, LBJ is now the Tiger Woods of the NBA, minus the golf sticks, of course.

Yes, it would be cool if he can take out some golf sticks and whack some of the most annoying basketball players in the league right now, i.e., Rasheed Wallace and that Starbury guy. That dude is a serious joke.

You can’t get any worse than that. The two of those guys combined make Allen Iverson & Ron Artest both look good. Well, Iverson and Artest aren’t annoying like those two. Thumbs up to them for not carrying such personalities.

So James was in Beverly Hills, California last week and underwent Lasik eye surgery with Dr. Kerry K. Assil, who is a renowned eye surgeon that have done that same procedure on many celebrities, including fellow basketball star, Richard “Rip” Hamilton.

With this new acquired skill, LeBron James has a greater chance to take us to the promise land, even if we don’t add any high profile player. We probably don’t even need them anymore. They’ll just bring more controversy onto this team thinking that because they have more experience than King James, they should be the “man” on the team. Don’t count on that. LeBron James is the “man” on this team. He is this team’s captain and franchise player. He is doing everything to improve himself, even though our GM, Danny Ferry is not bringing in anyone to provide him with that extra boost of support. You got to love the motivation that James bring to this team. I am inspired by his strong will to continue pursuing this Championship title, no matter what obstacles may lie ahead.

Go Team Cavaliers!

At the age of 82, Ted Stepien, former majority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers died in his Willoughby Hills home this past Monday.

Stepien was known for trading away his future first-round draft picks. The NBA passed the “Stepien Rule” to prohibit teams from trading away its future draft picks in consecutive years.

Stepien sold the Cavaliers to brothers, George and Gordon Gund for $20 million in 1983.

Due to the leniency of the other NBA owners, the Cavaliers were given bonus first round picks from 1983-86 to compensate for the ones that Stepien wasted.

Stepien was a war veteran, serving in WWII as a navigator-bomber with the rank of lieutenant.

Calling hours for Stepien will be on Friday at Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home in Lyndhurst. Services will be held the following day, 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Gates Mills.

R.I.P. Ted Stepien
